Mae Ocampo

Mae Ocampo is a feminist women’s human rights defender who began her activism at a young age, resisting land-grabbing and powerful institutions in the face of threats and risks with her local community in the Philippines.

Over the past three decades she has been involved in environmental justice and human rights work, focused on intersectional and inclusive ways of working, building relationships and forging alliances and movements, strengthening national and regional capacities, as well as bringing the voices of local communities from Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia and Eurasia into national, regional and international arenas.

Mae has more than 25 years of experience as a campaigner and has been in senior leadership and management positions in international NGOs, such as Friends of the Earth International, ActionAid International and the European Women’s Lobby. She supported and took part in the actions of the Palestinian solidarity group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, and Refugees Welcome.
