For Those Who Died Trying – European Concert Premiere

10 May 2019

On 20 May 2019, Protection International will host the European concert premiere of Frank Horvat’s music album ‘For Those Who Died Trying‘.

The project ‘For Those Who Died Trying’ presents the photographs of 37 murdered or abducted human rights defenders in Thailand. This project by Protection International looks to remember those who died defending human rights and protecting the environment. Originally a photo essay by Luke Duggleby, the project has grown into a 35-movement string quartet album by Canadian composer Frank Horvat.

String quartets around the world have already performed the album, as part of the #music4HRDs campaign. Frank Horvat will be present at the concert, marking it as the European premiere of his album. Brussels-based Tana String Quartet will perform the album.
