Activist Guide to the Declaration +25

Back in June 2024, after 700+ consultations and two conferences, alongside 18 other organisations we published the Declaration +25. This document marked the 25th anniversary of the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders, bringing HRD protection up to speed into the first quarter of the 21st century. Both documents are now considered the baseline on HRD protection and the right to defend human rights. 

Now, we are delighted to publish the Activist Guide to the Declaration +25, a tool which amplifies and builds on the Declaration +25 and the wider campaign #Right2DefendRights.

Why a new guide? 

• With a rapidly changing landscape for human rights defenders, we need to reinforce the structures and standards in place for the right to defend rights. 

What to expect from this guide?

• Develop a deeper understanding of the Declaration +25. 
• Use this guide in your targeted advocacy, finding new ways to defend human rights and protect human rights defenders.
