Protection International wishes to express its heartfelt condolences to the family members, friends and colleagues from the Fund for Global Human Rights of both Ana Paula Hernández and Sally O’neill. Their untimely passing from a traffic accident last 7 April, alongside Ana Velásquez and Daniel Tuc, has deeply affected all those who have had the pleasure to know and work with them.

We recognise Ana Paula and Sally’s strong commitment to human rights and we are grateful to have worked with them as part of our efforts to support human rights defenders in Central America. The community of civil society organisations in the region losses two figures of dedication, courage and immense humanity. 

Ana Paula and Sally’s work inspires us profoundly and their legacy will always mark our work across the globe.
