On 16 June 2016, Protection International Indonesia together with HuMa and other human rights working groups had an audience with Mr Sidarto Danusubroto, Member of the Indonesian Presidential Advisory Council (Watimpres), to discuss the protection and security of human rights defenders. This meeting builds on PI Indonesia’s strategy to bring forward the protection of human rights defenders to the government level after meeting the Office of the President last April.

Mr Sidarto was a Member of the Indonesian Parliament from 1999 until 2013. Last year, he was appointed Member of the Presidential Advisory Council.
